Material: We recommend a thicker jersey or sweatshirt fabric.


Length at center back: 71 - 76cm

Size 44-52:

• Outer fabric: 2.50 m x 140 cm wide

Size 54-58:

• Outer fabric: 3.20 m x 140 cm wide

Insert size 44-58:

A small piece of interlining that serves to reinforce the buttonhole.

Cord length size 44-58: 1.30m

 


Cutting:

Lay the fabric right side up.

Cut the pattern pieces from your fabrics .

The pattern pieces should all lie face up and be placed on the right side of the fabric.

Always align the thread arrow in the same direction on all pieces and parallel to the selvedge of the fabric.

Transfer all the clips from the pattern through a 3mm long incision with scissors or chalk and mark the ends of the darts.

Clip the seam allowance in the fabric fold because this is always a center. Markings define positions of dart ends , pocket positions, and much more. Transfer these either with chalk or pins.

What you need from fabric:

  • 1x front part in the break
  • 1x back part in the break
  • 2x raglan sleeves in opposite directions
  • 2x sleeve cuffs in opposite directions
  • 1x kangaroo pocket in the break
  • 4x hood (inner and outer hood opposite)
  • 1x front hem band in break
  • 1x rear hem band in the break

Also with insert:

  • A piece of insert for the hood band hole

Sewing instructions:

When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances that are not specifically marked are 1cm wide!

To sew this hoodie you will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, or alternatively the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to neaten the raw edges.

Be sure to use a jersey needle and use a stretchy stitch, i.e. if you are sewing with a household sewing machine, you should use either a zigzag stitch or the three-part elastic stitch and then all seam allowances again with a zigzag stitch or another appropriate stitch Neaten so they don't fray. In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something needs to be finished.

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS


You start working on the kangaroo pocket by finishing it all around.

In the next step, iron the pocket edges onto the inner fabric side and then iron the short side edges. Then you can iron the top and bottom edges to the inside.
Finally, sew on the seam allowances of the binding edges, 2cm apart from the edge of the envelope.
In the next step you sew the pocket onto the front piece. Pay attention to the markings. First stitch the top edge of the bag. Then stitch up the sides and the bottom edge.

Then sew the raglan sleeves to the back using the back raglan seam. Pay attention to the pass clips.
Then finish the seam allowances on the sleeves with the corresponding seam allowances on the front and back pieces.
We continue with the side seams of the hoodie. They are now closed in a seam from the hem edge/hoodie to the hem edge/sleeves.
The seam allowances are then neatened together.
The hem cuffs of the sleeves are closed in the side seams in the next step. The seam allowances are then ironed apart.
Then the cuffs are folded over at their folding line (left sides together).
And finally the open side is stitched all around with a distance of approx. 8mm from the edge.
Now you can sew the cuff to the hem of the sleeve. To do this, turn the hoodie inside out and tuck the cuff into the sleeve, aligned with the raw edges, so that the side seams of both pieces line up. Then place the sleeve hem under the sewing foot so that you can stitch on the cuff and sew it all around.
Then place the front and back hem cuffs right sides together, close the side seams and then iron them apart.
Then fold the cuff inside out along the fold line and topstitch the open edge with a distance of approx. 8mm from the edge.
In the next step, bring the cuff along the raw edges to the hem of the top so that the side seams are on top of each other. Then you stitch the cuff all around along the hem edge and then finish it.
Then fold the cuff down so that the seam faces inwards and iron it if necessary.
Your hoodie is almost finished now. The only thing missing is the hood, which will be explained in the next steps.

Start with the hood by sewing the inner and outer hood pieces together at the back seam of the hood and in the center front.

You can then make the two buttonholes for the cord opening. You will find the markings for this in the section. The insert is glued to the inner fabric side.

Then place the hood pieces together right sides together at the face opening.

In the next step, turn the hood right side out so that the seams point inwards. Make sure that the two layers fit on top of each other.

Then stitch the drawstring 2cm all the way around the face opening. Then sew the seam allowances of the neck hole line together approx. 7mm along the edge. Make sure the buttonholes are on the outer hood.

Finally, you can sew the hood to the neck hole of the top at the correct markings and then overcast it.

Then cut the buttonholes and pull the ribbon through.

Your hoodie David is ready!
