Nähanleitung Strickjacke/Pullunder Uli

Sewing instructions cardigan/sweater Uli

The Uli cardigan falls into the combination cuts category. You have the option of sewing two completely different styles with one pattern. The jacket has a stand-up collar and is fastened with two hand-stitched buttons. The pullover has an identical back and a wrap-effect front with a V-neck. Both tops have sleeves that end just above the elbow, making them ideal for wearing over blouses with statement sleeves.

Length in the center back = 52 - 58 cm

In this tutorial, Uli was sewn from a cotton blend.

Required materials:

We recommend a knit or sweat fabric.

Sizes 34-42 Outer fabric jacket 1.40 m 140 cm wide
Outer fabric pullover 1.40 m 140 cm wide
Sizes 44-50 Outer fabric jacket 1.60 m 140 cm wide

Sizes 34-50 Snap fasteners 2 pieces 16 mm diameter

Cutting:

Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!

Cut out the pattern pieces from your outer fabric. Lay the fabric right side up. Position the selvedges parallel to the center so you can place the back and collar pieces on the fold. The pattern pieces should all be placed with the writing facing up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvedge of the fabric. Transfer all notches from the pattern by making a 3mm snip with scissors or chalk. Notch the seam allowance along the fold, as this is always the center. Markings define the positions of darts, pocket positions, and much more. Transfer these either with chalk or pins.

You will need fabric:

  • 1x back part in the fracture
  • 1x collar in the break
  • 2x front part opposite

Sewing instructions:

Attention: You will find the instructions for the pullover at the very bottom as a supplement.

Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!

To sew this jacket you will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, or alternatively the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to neaten the cut edges.

In addition to the description, the colored lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something needs to be glued.

When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances not specifically marked are 1cm wide!
Have fun sewing!

When sewing the pullover : First, sew the shoulder seams together and neaten them. Then, you can neaten the neckline edges on the front pieces and the neckline on the back piece in one go. Press the neckline according to the clips and topstitch it. Continue from picture 5.

Start your sewing by finishing the hems and front facing edges.

Then iron the sleeve hem, hem and front edge in the fold according to the pattern.

The back part is also finished at the hems…

… and ironed according to the cut.

Now place the back piece right sides together with the front pieces and close both the side and shoulder seams. Neaten the seam allowances together and then press them to the back.

Sew the previously ironed hem and the sleeve hems.

Before you join the collar together, neaten the cut edge of the inner collar.

Now place the collar right sides together and turn the short sections.

Turn the collar right side out and iron it flat.

Now sew the outer collar, right sides together, to the back and front neck holes up to the tip of the front facing. Note the notches in the pattern.

Iron the seam allowances of the neckline of the front piece apart, iron the seam allowances of the back neckline upwards and notch the seam allowances slightly.

This is what the almost finished collar looks like.

You can now place the front seam allowances that have been ironed apart on top of each other and stitch them together, just like you would when making a lapel.

The finished inner collar is stitched from the right side in the shadow of the seam. Pin the seam to be safe.

Finally, secure the facing points on the seam allowances of the shoulder seam…

… and sew your snap fasteners into the correct position.

Have lots of fun with your new designer piece!

... and if you want, you can now easily sew the pullover.

You will need fabric:

  • 1x back part in the fracture
  • 2x front part opposite

First, neaten the back hem and all sleeve hems, the front slanted edge and the back neckline.

Now place the front shoulder piece, right sides together, on the back shoulder piece. Note: The front shoulder piece must extend 0.5 cm over the neckline, as the front edge has a 1.5 cm seam allowance, while the back neckline only has a 1 cm seam allowance.

The seam allowance is neatened together and ironed forward.

Now iron the back neckline 1cm and the front edge 1.5cm. Then topstitch both.

Then the right front piece is placed wrong sides together on the left front piece and fixed at the side seam with a stitch and the overlapping hem is neatened together.

Next, place the back piece right sides together on the front piece and close the side seam. Finish the seam allowance together and press it back.

Now all you have to do is iron the hems 3cm and topstitch them.

Your pullover is finished! That was quick, wasn't it?

Sincerely, your Schnittmuster-Berlin team.
