If you like a relaxed and casual look, but still prefer a feminine style, then you'll love our Marlene blouse . The shoulder detailing is rather unusual, but that's precisely what makes this shirt so special . Other details include the rounded hem, the center front slit fastened with a small button, and the gathered pleats at the front neckline. All edges except the hem are finished with bias binding.
Length at back center = 64-68 cm.
Marlene was sewn from viscose in this tutorial.

To sew this blouse you will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, or alternatively the zigzag stitch of your sewing machine to finish the cut edges.
The colored lines in the pictures show you, in addition to the description, where to sew a seam or glue something.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances not specifically marked are 1 cm wide!
Have fun sewing!

After cutting, please first finish the side seams (a little beyond the notch for the slit) and the center seam on the front piece.

Next, create the 3 pleats in the front neckline according to the pattern and secure them with a basting stitch at 0.7cm.

Stitch once through the shoulder and armhole at 8mm from the edge to prevent the seams from stretching during binding.
Bind the shoulder and armhole in one piece. There are two options: you can cut enough bias strips from the fabric and join them together to achieve a length of 2.40 m, or you can use a matching bias binding tape with a finished width of 2 cm.

For the fabric binding tape, iron it in half and then iron each side again up to the fold.

Mark the shoulder length according to the pattern (cross) so that you can later sew the front and back shoulders together.

Now, stitch the front shoulder piece (left side) to the back shoulder piece, close to the edge. Note your marking.

Next, close the front center seam right sides together up to the slit - snap.

Press the seam allowance open. Fold the slit inwards twice by 0.7 cm, press, and topstitch all around.

Stitch through the entire neck opening at 8 mm.

Measure the lengths on the tape according to the pattern and bind the neckline. Fold or turn under the tape ends to create a clean finish.

Close the side seam right sides together up to the slit - snap.

Iron the seam, fold in the ends of the tape and secure them with a tack.

Stitch the hem, including the curve, at 0.7 cm to prevent the seam from stretching and to make the curve easier to lay.

Fold over the hem and slit by 2 x 0.7 cm and stitch down.

Finally, make a buttonhole on the right side of the body, see video, then sew a button on the left side.
