The Leela shirt is a wonderfully comfortable top with a sophisticated cut. The ruffles on the side underline the casual look and the batwing sleeves allow the shirt to move with you. But the absolute eye-catcher is the rear view. We've used an elastic lace so you'll draw everyone's attention. As for the fabric, we suggest jersey with an elastic tip.
Length at center back = 63-67 cm.
In this pattern, the Leela was sewn from a soft jersey.
Required material:
We recommend a soft jersey and matching lace.

cutting:
When cutting, transfer all the notches drawn onto the fabric - these are the small lines running perpendicular to the cutting line. Either you make a small mark with a self-erasing marker pen or one
3 mm long incision with scissors. Cut the pattern pieces out of fabric and always snap the seam allowance in the fabric fold because this is always a middle.
You need:
- 1x back piece at the top in the fold
- 1x back parts below in the break
- 1x front part in break
- 2x front sleeves in opposite directions
- 2x back sleeves in opposite directions
- 1x neck strip
- 1x slit strip
- 1x buttonhole strip
sewing instructions
To sew your shirt, you can use an overlock machine and a home sewing machine, or just your home sewing machine. If you don't have an overlock, use the zigzag stitch to overcast the edges of the fabric to keep it from fraying. In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something to be glued.
I wish you happy sewing!
First, iron the serging strip wrong sides together (in the crease) and cut the tip in the center back to form a slit.
Sew the serging strip to the slit.
Fold everything inwards and stitch the strip at 3mm from the edge.
Finally, sew the tip of the slit into a small corner.
Sew the front sleeves to the front and neaten the seam allowances.
Take the lower back piece and ruffle the attachment seam to the sleeve.
In the front you have two darts under the breast, which should be gathered. To do this, first sew along the lower part of the dart with a large stitch. You will need this seam to gather the dart. (Usually we sew two lines for gathering, but here only 1x due to the short distance)
Once you've done that, cut the dart just short of the point. Gather the bottom part until it fits the top...
... and sew them together.
Then neaten up the seam allowance and iron it upwards.
Now you need the lower back part and the sleeves, which you now sew together...
... and here again neaten the seam allowance and iron it upwards.
Gather all the back pieces. Place the middle back piece right sides together with the lower back piece and sleeve and sew together. Then neaten the seam together. Iron the seam allowance away from the tip and stitch flat.
Next you need a button loop. For this you have to make a roll (we have a video for this) . Lay the strip right sides together in the fold and stitch a seam 3mm from the fold. Then you have to turn the tape so that the seam allowance is on the inside.
Next, you close the shoulder/upper arm seam to connect the front piece to the back piece. Now you need the long strip for the neckline. Iron this strip in half lengthways. Then, right sides together, sew this strip to the neckline. To do this, fold in the edges of the slit by 1cm so that the processing looks clean there.
Now iron the strip inwards and then sew the button loop on the left side of the slit.
Place the side and sleeve seams right sides together and sew them together. Finish the seam allowance together.
Now neaten the sleeve and shirt hems and iron the hems 2 cm inwards and topstitch everything. Your Leela is ready!
