NÄHANLEITUNG MINIROCK “KIM”

SEWING INSTRUCTIONS MINI SKIRT “KIM”

This 4 panel skirt is a quick sewing project and you can do it well even as a beginner. The flared hem allows the short skirt to sway beautifully in the movement, if you want to lengthen the mini skirt , simply add the desired centimeters to the hem of the pattern piece. The waistband has an elastic band for easy slipping on.

Center Back Length = 40-46cm

Kim was sewn from a thin imitation leather in this pattern.

Required material:

We recommend a soft, flowing and opaque fabric such as synthetic leather, jersey, silk or polyester.

Sizes 34-50 outer fabric 1.20 m 140cm wide
rubber 70-110cm long 3 cm wide

cutting:

Cut out the pattern pieces from your outer fabric. Lay the fabric right side up. Lay the selvedges parallel to the center so you can lay the waistband on the fold. The pattern pieces should all be face up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvage of the fabric. Transfer all the notches from the pattern through a 3mm long incision with scissors or chalk. Pinch the seam allowance in the fold of the fabric because this is always a center. Markings define positions of dart ends, pocket positions, and much more. Transfer these either with chalk or pins.

You need from fabric:

  • 1x bundle in break
  • 4x skirt part

Sewing instructions:

To sew this skirt you need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, alternatively you can use the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to finish the raw edges.

Be sure to use a jersey needle and use a stretch stitch, i.e. if you are sewing with a home sewing machine you should use either a zigzag stitch or the tripartite elastic stitch and then all seam allowances again with a zigzag stitch or another appropriate stitch neaten so they don't fray. In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something to be glued.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances that are not specially marked are 1 cm wide!
Happy sewing!

First, the first two skirt cuts are placed, right sides together, and closed on one side. Then the seam allowances are neatened together and ironed to the back. But if you use artificial leather, the cut edges do not fray and therefore do not have to be trimmed.

Repeat this step with the other two skirt pieces.

Then the prepared skirt parts are placed, right sides together, and closed on both sides. Then the seam allowances are neatened together and ironed to the back. But if you use artificial leather, the cut edges do not fray and therefore do not have to be trimmed.

The waistband is placed right sides together and folded together. Iron or spread out the seam allowances.

The waistband is ironed or laid once in half, left to left, in a fold. In addition, we recommend that you sew an auxiliary seam (quilting foot width) so that nothing slips or becomes distorted when sewing.

The prepared waistband is needled and sewn to the skirt part, right sides together. Make sure to leave an opening (4cm) for the elastic to pass through.

Here you can see a detailed photo with our opening in the waistband.

Cut the elastic to the desired size and attach a large safety pin to it.

You then pull this through your tunnel. At the end, both rubber ends are sewn together and the width is evenly distributed.

Don't forget to close your opening afterwards.

Here you can see our finished sewn waistband.

If you don't sew kim out of artificial leather, you should finish the hem edge, iron 1 cm and topstitch 0.7 cm wide.
