Sewing instructions bag “Gina”

Sewing pattern bag Gina is a simple but optically sophisticated pouch bag . With the finished bag handles, the round bag is sewn in no time and is also a nice gift idea. The two darts on each side give the bag the necessary volume. We recommend a solid fabric, such as cotton, imitation leather or jeans.

In this example, the Gina bag was sewn from a strong cotton fabric.

cutting:

Cut the pattern pieces out of fabric and transfer the notches from the pattern.
In addition to the description, the colorful brackets in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn.

  • 2x bag parts
  • 1x inner pocket
  • 2 bag handles

sewing instructions

Fold the top edge of the inner pocket inwards twice by 1cm.

Position the inside pocket, wrong sides together, on one of the pocket parts. You can either use the position from the pattern or adjust it to your liking. Sew the two side edges and the bottom edge onto the bag. The upper edge, the pocket opening, remains open. Don't forget to tack the seam well at the beginning and end.

Transfer the darts to the wrong sides of the fabric with a trick marker (four times in total). Fold the bag together (right sides together) so that the two drawn lines are exactly on top of each other and meet at the point of the dart. Sew right along the line, outwards from the tip, and don't forget to back-stitch the seam.

Place the bag pieces right sides together. 2 darts always meet. Make sure that the seam allowances are pointing in different directions so that the seams of the darts meet exactly. Sew the bag parts together up to the snaps (red clips in the picture above).

Then snap in the side at the red marking and fold the edge inward twice, up to the top, by 1 cm. Stitch this in place by back-stitching the seams.

This is what this seam looks like. Now topstitch the seam of the pocket curve once with a distance of 1.2cm to the outer edge, so that the previously closed seam disappears on the inside. Start at the opening and finish there on the other side. Lock the seams.
