Are you looking for a slim turtleneck sweater for the cooler season? Sewn in a thin jersey, it is good for wearing underneath and in a slightly thicker fabric as a solo model. We have two variants in the pattern for you, a smooth front part and one with a yoke and small pleats in the center front. Because the sewing steps are really simple, it's a great sewing pattern for beginners.

In order to get a little insight and some understanding, we have prepared a video for you here. (???)

Cutting preparation:

In order to be able to draw the dividing seams in Lotta's pattern, it must first be mirrored in order to obtain a complete pattern piece.

Now you can draw the dividing seams on the pattern. A little tip: to get smooth transitions/seam edges, make sure that the stretches, such as on the shoulder or side seam on the front/back, are separated in the same places.

Then cut the pattern pieces apart along the marked dividing seam.

To the  Then sew the pattern pieces back together again, the seam allowance has to be drawn along the dividing seams.

For this purpose, a piece of paper can be placed under the cut and fixed in order to draw in the seam allowance.

In this case, the seam allowance is based on the stitch width of your overlock or, if necessary, the zigzag stitch.

The sleeves are also provided with dividing seams and the associated seam allowances.

cutting:

Cut out the pattern pieces from your fabric. Lay the selvedges parallel to the center so that you can lay the front and back pieces in the fold. The pattern pieces should all be face up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvedge of the fabric. Transfer all the notches from the pattern through a 3mm long incision made with the scissors. Pinch the seam allowance in the fold of the fabric because this is always a center.

Sewing instructions:

You will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine to sew this top, alternatively you can use the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to finish the raw edges.

In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something to be glued.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances that are not specially marked are 1 cm wide!
Happy sewing!

After cutting, you can start sewing the dividing seams with the overlock or the zigzag stitch.

It is important to ensure that the seams are laid left sides together, as the seam edges should be visible as a design element on the right side of the fabric.

The next step is to close the side and shoulder seams. Here you can decide according to personal preference whether you want to make the seam allowance visible or not.

The turtleneck is pinned to the neck hole, left sides facing, and sewn in place.

Now we come to the last steps, namely the dividing seams of the sleeves and the sleeve side seams must be closed.

Now only the sleeves are linked in the armhole and you're done with your new stylish top.

Your LOTTA with dividing seams is ready!
