Louisa wears wonderfully over a thick sweater or a light jacket. The cape is easy to sew and since it is only closed with a decorative hook, it is also ideal for sewing beginners.
Length at center back = 68 cm
In these instructions, Louisa was sewn from a wool fabric.
Required material:
Sizes 34-50- Outer fabric 2.00m (140cm wide)
- Jewelry hook/clasp 1 x
In advance for you as information:
cutting:
Cut out the pattern pieces from your outer fabric. Lay the fabric right side up. Lay the selvedges of the outer fabric parallel to the center so that you can lay the back piece on the fold. The pattern pieces should all be face up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvage of the fabric. Transfer all the notches from the pattern through a 3mm long incision with scissors or chalk. Pinch the seam allowance in the fold of the fabric because this is always a center. Markings define positions of dart ends, pocket positions, etc. Transfer these either with chalk or pins.

You need from fabric:
- 1x back part in break
- 2x front part, opposite
- 2x hood center back
- 4x hood, 2 of each of the same kind
Sewing instructions:
To sew this cape you need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, alternatively you can use the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to finish the raw edges.
In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something to be glued.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances that are not specially marked are 1 cm wide!

Begin your sewing work by neatening the raw edges of the front and back pieces all around.
Sew a stitching foot width guide without bartacking inside the curves of the front pieces and gather the stretch a little. This way you can iron the curve better.
Iron the fold in the center front, the hem and the side seams of the front pieces inwards according to the pattern.

Place the front and back pieces right sides together and sew the shoulder seams together. Iron the seam allowances apart.
Now make the cuts for the hood and stitch a side hood to each middle section, right sides together.
Place the prepared hoods together right sides together and close the front edge. Press open the seam allowances and turn the hood right side out.
Stitch the outer hood to the neckline of the body, right sides together. To do this, unfold the ironed center front again.

Then sew the inner hood right sides together onto the neckline of the body, stopping up to approx. 5cm in front of the center back.
Sew the other side of the inner hood to the neckline as well, as far as you can get.
Close the opening in the center back with your hand or stitch it close to the edge.
Stitch the hem of the cape all the way around.
Stitch through the front fold of the right and left side of the body.
Stitch the front edge of the hood through and through.
Decide on a suitable type of fastener and sew it in place. If you should use a toggle as in our sewing example, put an extra bar on the straps, but only so far towards the center front that you can still get the toggle through the loop.
