sewing instructions
Neaten the bottom edge of the back facing and the top edge of the VT.
Iron both NZs inwards and topstitch them tightly. Place the back facing on the RT right sides together and sew up the armholes and neck seam (blue staples). Leave the shoulder seams open. Turn the RT right side out again and iron the seams nicely.
Using the markings in the pattern, fold the front facing down onto the VT, right sides together, and close the armholes (blue brackets) here as well. Turn the VT right side out again and iron out the seams nicely. Place the RT on the VT right sides together and sew the two shoulder seams. Don't forget to clean up this NZ as well.
Then you close the side seams of the dress right sides together. If you want, you can flat-stitch the NZ of the armholes and the neck seam. This means that you only place the NZ on the left side in the direction of the facing and stitch it there without this seam later being visible on the outer fabric.
Fold the hem of your dress inwards twice by 1.5cm, iron and topstitch. Now it's time for the belt. Use pins to transfer the markings from the pattern for the pleats to the center piece. The belt has a total of four folds.
Place one pin on top of the other so that there is a crease at the back. Make this fold in the direction that the arrow on the pattern is pointing. Pin the fold securely and repeat this process for the other three marks.
This is what one side of the middle section looks like. Place a side part of the belt right sides together and close the seam. Repeat on the other side.
Then iron the entire belt in half lengthwise, right sides together, and close the open edges. Leave a small turning opening in the middle.
Then you wrap the belt around your dress, with the middle section coming to rest on the VT, you tie the side sections once over the back in a bow at the front. Congratulations, your Ava dress is complete!
