Nähanleitung Kleid Liv

Sewing instructions for Liv dress

The Liv jersey dress pattern is a great project for beginners and looks great!
The pattern pieces are twisted/shifted, creating a unique look. Made from a thin jersey, it's more suitable as a top; in a thicker jersey or knit, it's great as a dress . A quick piece you can sew in the afternoon before going out in the evening!

Length at the center back = 94-101 cm.

The asymmetrical dress Liv from this pattern was sewn from a viscose jersey.

Required materials:

We recommend a thicker knit or jersey or sweat fabric

Size 34-42 Outer fabric 2.00 m 140 cm wide
Size 44-50 Outer fabric 2.40 m 140 cm wide

Cutting:

Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!

When cutting, make sure to cut the front and back pieces the right way round, according to the pattern. This works best if the paper pattern is placed with the label facing up on the right side of the fabric.

Cut the pattern pieces out of fabric and transfer the notches from the pattern. The colored clips in the pictures show you where to sew a seam, in addition to the description.

You need:

  • 1x front part
  • 1x back part
  • 1x skirt part in the fold
  • 1x sleeve opposite

Sewing instructions:

Seam allowances are included - 1cm wide or as per marking clips!

Place the front piece right sides together on the back piece and close the shoulder seams (see blue clips) – these are easiest to see if you use the neckline as a guide.

Close the side seams in the same way. These are easiest to find by aligning them with the shoulder seams. The armholes are next to them, and the side seams are next to them (see red brackets).

Neaten the neck hole, iron it slightly inwards and stitch it close to the edge.

Place one sleeve right sides together and close its side seam.

Neaten the hem of the sleeve, iron it 2cm inwards and stitch it close to the edge.

Insert the sleeve into the dress, right sides together, so that both side seams (see red clips) meet directly.

Sew the sleeve all the way around to the armhole and repeat these steps with the other sleeve.

Place the skirt piece right sides together in the fold and close the long side seam.

The skirt piece is sewn to the dress like a cuff. That is, fold it in half in the middle and turn it right side out, so that the seam you just closed disappears inside. In the next step, its side seam meets the right side seam of the dress, and the opposite point (the fold) meets the left side seam.

Fold the cuff, right sides together, over the bottom edge of the dress so that the above-mentioned points meet and all three open fabric edges line up exactly. Close this seam all the way around.
