Nähanleitung Hundekorb Bello

Sewing instructions dog basket Bello

We came to the dog - and have designed a round dog basket in three different sizes for you . For small, medium and large dogs you can sew this stylish dog bed and at the same time break down leftovers/fabric waste. The basket rim and cushion can either be filled with a purchased filling material or with your collected scraps of fabric. The filling is housed in an inner pillow so that you can wash the cover of the pillow. So that Bello is not only comfortable, but also looks good, we have included thick piping in contrasting fabric, which you can also make yourself using a thick cotton cord.

In these instructions, Bello was sewn from canvas.

cutting:

Cut the pattern pieces out of your outer fabric and possibly cotton wool. Lay the fabric right side up. The pattern pieces should all be face up. Always align the grain arrow on all pieces in the same direction and parallel to the selvage of the fabric. Transfer all the notches from the pattern through a 3mm long incision with scissors or chalk. Markings define positions of dart ends, pocket positions, etc. Transfer these either with chalk or pins.

You need from outer fabric:

  • 2x floor
  • 2x pillows
  • 2x piping in the slanting direction of the grain
  • 2x edge inside
  • 2x edge-up in the break
  • 2x edge front in break

From lining you need:

  • 2x pillows

Sewing instructions:

You will need a sewing machine to sew this dog basket.

In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something to be glued.

When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern. Seam allowances that are not specially marked are 1 cm wide!

Happy sewing!

Sew the inner cushion from the lining fabric right sides together all the way around. Make sure to leave a 5-10cm opening. You will later fill the pillow with scraps of fabric or foam through this opening.

You link the cushion parts made of outer fabric individually between the snaps for the zipper.

Sew a short piece right sides together up to the snap for the zipper. Sew a short piece away from the second snap, right sides together. This makes it easier for you to sew in the zipper while it is still open.

Sew an invisible zipper between the two snaps. Use the appropriate sewing machine foot for this type of zipper.

This is what the inserted zipper looks like.

Sew the remaining seam of the pillow right sides together and neaten the seam allowances.

Sew the piping right sides together to form a round and press open the seam allowances.

Lay a self-made or ready-made cord between the piping, wrong sides together, and stitch the piping together with half a stitching foot.

Sew the top edge together to form a round, right sides facing, and iron the seam allowances apart.

Sew the front edge - right sides together to form a round and iron the seam allowances apart.

Then neaten the raw edges from the inside edge and iron the fold according to the pattern.

Pin the break.

Now place the edited breaks on top of each other, using the cut as a guide.

Sew the finished piping right sides together to the top edge.

Here you can see a detail photo of the piping and the top hem.

Sew the piping edge-up finish right sides together onto the inside edge. Pay attention to the snaps in the cut.

Sew the top edge to the front edge, right sides together. Pay attention to the snaps in the cut.

Stitch the top and front seam allowances one foot apart.

Divide the entire length of both circles into quarters with pins. Begin and end without locking between quarter-lengths. Stitch two lines 5mm apart for the gathers on the inside edge and front edge, preferably with a heavier yarn (eg 80 gauge) if you have them. Gather each section according to the pattern.

Sew the slightly ruffled edge - right sides together - onto a base of outer fabric.

Sew the inside edge, wrong sides together, to the front edge plus bottom through and through.

Place the second floor, right sides together, on the previously processed floor and stitch all the way around. Make sure to leave an opening of about 10-15cm for turning the dog basket.

Turn the cup right side out and close the turning opening with your hand or a narrow edge.

Stitch the bottom seam allowances inwards through and through.

Now fill in the sides/edge with scraps of fabric or a suitable filling material.

Also fill the cushion made of lining fabric with scraps of fabric or a suitable filling material and close the opening just under the edge.

Cover the inner cushion with the outer cushion...

...and zip up.

Here you can see a detailed photo of the closed zipper.

Place the finished pillow in the basket.
