Nähanleitung Sommerkleid “Quila”

Sewing instructions summer dress “Quila”

The asymmetrical dress Quila is so wonderfully easy to wear. It doesn't pinch anywhere and doesn't feel bulky, but flows around the body like water. The dress is particularly suitable for those women who have a little more curves. It is not difficult to sew, but requires some experience in handling and reading patterns.

Length at center back = 98-103cm

  • 1x skirt front made of fabric

  • 1x skirt at the back left made of fabric
  • 2x fabric shoulder straps

Sewing instructions:

To sew this dress you will need a sewing machine and an overlock sewing machine, or alternatively the zigzag stitch on your sewing machine to neaten the cut edges.

Be sure to use a jersey needle and use a stretchy stitch, i.e. if you are sewing with a household sewing machine, you should use either a zigzag stitch or the three-part elastic stitch and then all seam allowances again with a zigzag stitch or another appropriate stitch Neaten so they don't fray. In addition to the description, the colorful lines in the pictures show you where a seam needs to be sewn or something needs to be glued.
When sewing, pay attention to the seam allowance included in the pattern.
Have fun sewing!

Start by overcasting the front neckline, ironing it inwards towards the left side of the fabric according to the fold. The clips mark the width.

Sew this front piece to the front skirt, right sides together, with the clips along the stretch meeting. The seam allowance is 1cm. Then neaten the cut edges together and iron them down into the skirt. Next come the two upper back pieces. Sew the right and left back pieces together in the center back, right sides together. Finish the seam and iron it to the left back piece.

Do the same with the two back skirt parts.

Now iron the long sides of the neck band towards the middle of the left side of the fabric.

Pin this strip, slightly stretched, to the left side of the fabric at the back neck hole. Now sew the strip exactly in the ironed fold.

Iron the seam smooth and fold the ribbon (with the fold) to the right side of the fabric. Sew it in place just a short distance from the folding edge, covering the previous seam. Iron your result again.

Then sew the back piece and the back skirt together, right sides together, finish the seam and iron it into the skirt.

Finish the raw edges of the side seam individually. Place the front and back pieces right sides together and sew the side seams together using a 1.5cm seam allowance. Iron the seam allowances apart.

Now neaten the armholes, press the hem to the inside and sew it in place.

Now all four shoulders are curled individually (here is a video on how to curl) . To do this, sew two auxiliary seams with a long stitch length (3.5-4). You don't lock these, but let the thread stick out at the beginning and end. You knot one end and pull on the other until the stretch is exactly as long as the back yoke. Distribute the curl evenly.

You can then sew the shoulder seam together, right sides together. The neck hole facing is placed towards the back piece.

Finish the seams and iron them into the front piece, then pull the neck facing back to the front piece.

Iron the edges of the shoulder straps to the left side. Pin the straps from the outside in the middle of the shoulder seams. Sew them on as rectangles with narrow edges.
Alternatively, you can also use a ready-made ribbon and only fold in the short sides, e.g. binding tape or grosgrain ribbon (see photo).
Finish the hem and press it 2cm inwards. Sew him in place.
